{"id":80,"date":"2009-10-19T11:33:35","date_gmt":"2009-10-19T15:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/?p=80"},"modified":"2009-11-24T11:56:28","modified_gmt":"2009-11-24T15:56:28","slug":"october-2009-meeting-minutes-of-the-heart-river-home-brewers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/?p=80","title":{"rendered":"October 2009 Meeting Minutes of the Heart River Home Brewers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Present: Ryan Jilek, Rocky Stoltz, Dennis Froemke, Todd Solem, Jeremy Jahner and Jon Stika.<\/p>\n<p>Beer of the month is Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout.\u00a0 The stout had good roasty, biscuity aroma and flavor.\u00a0 It was very smooth with chocolate, coffee and fruit flavors in a good malt background.\u00a0 The beer was not as full or &#8220;chewy&#8221; as expected and was perhaps a little thin for the style.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan brought some Cream Ale that he brewed from a Northern Brewer extract kit.\u00a0 It had a good aroma and flavor with a slightly tart, fruity, dry finish.<\/p>\n<p>Jon brought some Sierra Nevada Porter.\u00a0 Dennis brought some unidentified hops that had been grown near Nimrod, MN that had been harvested and dried.\u00a0 Dennis plans to use them in one of his next brews.\u00a0 Jeremy brought some photos of a drying cabinet that belongs to his mother.\u00a0 Jeremy said we were welcome to borrow the drying cabinet if we wished to use it to dry hops or malt.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Stika<br \/>\nSecretary<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Present: Ryan Jilek, Rocky Stoltz, Dennis Froemke, Todd Solem, Jeremy Jahner and Jon Stika.
