{"id":515,"date":"2012-06-29T19:46:11","date_gmt":"2012-06-29T23:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/?p=515"},"modified":"2012-06-29T19:53:03","modified_gmt":"2012-06-29T23:53:03","slug":"june-2012-minutes-of-the-heart-river-home-brewers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/?p=515","title":{"rendered":"June 2012 Minutes of the Heart River Home Brewers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Present: Rocky Stoltz, Ryan Jilek, Jerry Ford, Alan Church, Dale Sattler, Paul Ellerkamp and Jon Stika.<\/p>\n<p>Discussed the Heart River Home Brewers members-only competition scheduled for September 7th.\u00a0 Jon handed-out competition entry forms.\u00a0 Also discussed K of C beer event scheduled for September 27th at the Dickinson Recreation Center.\u00a0 Reviewed photos and discussed stone (stein) beer brewed during the ND Brewers campout at Cross Ranch State Park last weekend.\u00a0 Checked the empty wine barrel with an optic fiber scope to determine cleanliness and discussed cleaning, sanitizing and filling the barrel.\u00a0 Jon and Ryan plan to brew more Imperial Stout to attain the needed volume to fill the barrel.\u00a0 Jerry brought a Spruce Stout, Ryan brought a Spruce Lager and an Alaskan Smoked Porter, Paul brought sparkling Mead, Jon brought Baltika Russian lager, Rocky brought Cream Ale, Alan brought Oud Bruin and Dale brought Mint wine.<\/p>\n<p>The HRHB club members only homebrew competition judging will take place on September 7<sup>th<\/sup>, 2012 at the home of Jon &amp; Eve Stika located at 1060 4<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue East, Dickinson, ND.\u00a0 Rocky Stoltz, Jerry Ford, Ryan Jilek and Jon Stika will serve as judges.\u00a0 Entries are limited to 2 per member.\u00a0 An entry will consist of a six-pack of 12 ounce bottles or a 2L growler.\u00a0 Beer left over from judging will be available for consumption at the picnic.\u00a0 All entries must be delivered to Jon Stika by Friday, August 31<sup>st<\/sup>, 2012.\u00a0 There is no entry fee.\u00a0 Any style of beer is eligible for entry, but a Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) style category and subcategory must be designated on the entry form when the beer is delivered for judging.\u00a0 BJCP style guidelines may be found at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bjcp.org\/docs\/2008_stylebook.pdf\">http:\/\/www.bjcp.org\/docs\/2008_stylebook.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have questions regarding the competition, please contact Jon Stika, competition organizer at <a href=\"mailto:stika@ndsupernet.com\">stika@ndsupernet.com<\/a> or 701-483-8788.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a link to a copy of the BJCP <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bjcp.org\/docs\/SCP_EntryRecipe.pdf\">entry form<\/a> for the brewing competition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Image0042.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-518\" title=\"fiber_optic_view_barrel\" src=\"http:\/\/www.heartriverhomebrewers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Image0042-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ryan and Alan use a fiber optic viewer to check out the inside of the wine (soon to be beer) barrel.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Stika<br \/>\nSecretary<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Present: Rocky Stoltz, Ryan Jilek, Jerry Ford, Alan Church, Dale Sattler, Paul Ellerkamp and Jon Stika.
